How to Take Part

Explore the different ways in which we deliver the Dance to Health programme below.

Option 1 | On your own or with a few friends

Join an open-to-all online class

Six weeks of Dance to Health delivered live through Zoom.

Anybody can join on week one or week two of each course.

N

Courses are categorised depending on levels of fitness and mobility.

The number of participants will vary per group but will not be more than 36.

Free Coffee mornings…
Our coffee mornings provide social time for online groups and the opportunity to address any IT issues. This is really valuable because it enables the dance sessions to focus on the dance and not the tech.

Option 2 | Through a commissioned programme

Improvement programme:
online or in person

A 26 week, progressive programme designed to improve participants' strength and balance to prevent falls.

Our Dance Artist will tailor the programme to the participants' requirements using FaME / Otago.

N

A trained Second Eye will support our Dance Artist by monitoring participants.

N

Each session will build upon the last. To get the most out of this programme, participants should attend for the full 26 weeks.

Online Improvement programme: We run the programme for you, so all we need from you is the details of up to 36 participants. Cost: £4,680 for up to 36 participants.

In person improvement programme: Cost: £4,680. We require you to provide the venue; if the group size exceeds 20 for FaME based programmes or 12 for Otago, an Assistant Dance Artist is required (not included in the above price). Other additional costs will be incurred that are dependent on the venue location e.g. travel expenses.

Maintenance programme:
online or in person

This programme is designed to maintain participants' strength and balance to prevent falls. It is particularly effective when preceded by the improvement programme.

New participants are welcome to join, up to the maximum of 36. Our Dance Artist and Second Eye will monitor new participants to help them improve until they are able to participate in the groups independently.

Our Dance Artist will tailor the programme to the participants' requirements using FaME / Otago. A trained Second Eye will support our Dance Artist by monitoring participants.

Maintenance programmes can be used back to back to provide medium to long term falls prevention intervention.

Online maintenance programme: We run the programme for you, so all we need from you is the details of up to 36 participants. Cost: £180 per session for up to 36 participants. Minimum order of 16 sessions.

In person maintenance programme: Cost: £180 per session. Minimum order of 16 sessions. We require you to provide the venue; if the group size exceeds 20 for FaME based programmes or 12 for Otago, an Assistant Dance Artist is required (not included in the above price). Other additional costs will be incurred that are dependent on the venue location e.g. travel expenses.

Option 3 | Satellite Sessions for housing with care

Our Dance Artist will deliver one falls prevention dance session to multiple locations at the same time, via a live internet link

The housing with care provider will provide the communal area, a supporting volunteer / staff member and the equipment - A large screen with audio and video capabilities e.g. a laptop connected to a large TV.

Provides a safe and consistent method of delivery regardless of Covid restrictions.

The best value way to deliver Dance to Health at just £30 per session per location.

Develop strength and balance to prevent falls. Improve residents’ mood, encouraging positive behaviour.

Option 4 | Create your own group

We will give you all the training you need to set up the group, which usually takes 6-12 months.

N

We'll also provide the Dance Artist, the branded materials, quality assurance and ongoing support.

N

Groups usually charge participants and seek funding to pay for the initial set up costs and ongoing charges.

Creating and running your own group enables you to take ownership of it, drawing on a community’s passion to shape it in the way the participants want to.

The cost of the initial training is £4,500.
