Volunteer with us
Are you enthusiastic and keen to motivate others? Maybe you have a background in dance, theatre, movement therapies or sport or you love to move yourself? Would you like to help our dance artists provide safe and friendly dance classes for older people? If any of these sound like you, we would love to hear from you.
We offer sessions online and face to face and we are currently looking for Peer Motivators and Dance Support Volunteers for both formats. Dance to Health is the national falls prevention dance programme. Our dance artists have the same postural stability instructor training as NHS physiotherapists They integrate these techniques into the dance routines in such a way that most of our participants don’t even notice they are there. We use dance because it is hugely powerful. As well as encouraging us to build strength and balance it is also fun, playful, liberating and creative.
Our volunteer roles are open to people of any age and are an opportunity to contribute to the success of these sessions. You will be directed and supported by the dance artist to provide practical assistance to participants with dance and movement in sessions or watching out for participants online. These roles are varied and might involve: spotting any health and safety concerns, demonstrating activities and movement adaptation or helping out with registration and the general organisation of the group. Above all, you will be helping to build energy and community spirit.
These volunteer roles require a two hour time commitment on a weekday for a minimum period of 26 weeks.
