sample Dance to Health content

Dance to Health is a fun way to increase your strength and balance, enabling you to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle.

In the videos below a few of our dance artists introduce themselves and demonstrate some of the content from each of the three levels we offer.

Claire Grant introduces a gentle class

Watch Claire Grant introduce herself and show you example content from a gentle class. Gentle classes are fun and creative dance sessions focussed on improving strength and balance. They focus on seated exercises and balance work using a chair. You will get to mobilise your whole body, from the safety of your seat, develop good posture, gain muscle strength and balance. 1.5-hour session, approx. 1 hour of dancing and the remainder social time.

Charlotte Haddon introduces an active class

Watch Charlotte Haddon introduce herself and show you example content from an active class. Active classes mix the seated and standing work, aimed at developing strength, balance, coordination and stamina. They are lively and creative, incorporating more routines and choreography that will push your cardiovascular system and develop stamina and endurance, as well as gaining muscle strength, greater balance, and flexibility. 1.5-hour session, approx. 1-hour 15mins of dancing and the remainder social time.

Bettina Carpi introduces a dynamic class

Watch Bettina Carp introduce herself and show you example content from a dynamic class. Dynamic dance sessions encourage more endurance work which is great for your cardiovascular system, along with developing strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. They include mainly seated and standing work, as well as encouraging floorwork, for greater resistance and core strength. Slightly more challenging routines, choreography, and a deeper workout. 1.5-hour session, approx. 1-hour 15mins of dancing and the remainder social time.

“I was reluctant to give it a try at first because I was nervous about coming into a room full of strangers. But I’m so glad I did. Now when I come to Dance to Health, I am coming to see my friends.”

“After retirement my mobility had become increasingly compromised, by worn out, stiff and painful hips. After each session I was able to stand up straight instead of being stooped, if only temporarily, and move about more freely.”
