We’re thrilled to announce that Dance to Health has been awarded £171k to expand and make sustainable its programmes in the Dudley area, over three years, by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Scaling up

In response to increased demand, and a proven track record of effective falls-prevention, Dance to Health are working with Dudley Council to expand from 5 existing groups to 11 groups by 2025. The Community Fund will contribute to supporting these groups, helping participants lead healthier, more creative lives.

Sustainability

Last year, with the help of Innovate UK funding, we established a new model of local governance for Dance to Health, such that once groups are set up, they may become financially sustainable. This involves creating a local community board to help with fundraising and operations.

We have now set up a community board in Dudley, and have begun the transition period that will ensure the benefits of Dance to Health can be felt for years to come. The National Lottery Community Fund is going to help enormously with this endeavour, empowering participants and local community members support themselves through Dance to Health.

Jodie Stus, Aesop’s Regional Manager, West Midlands, had this to say:

Aesop is thrilled to have successfully received funding from the National Lottery. The time and money awarded will create ongoing sustainability for the Dance to Health programmes in Dudley, providing opportunities for those communities to feel empowered and to belong to something quite special.”
